The Sultan's donair is quite a delicious treat. It makes a great cure to nasty hangover. Since the pita was ripped and it had some gross yellow lettuce inside I give them an 8 / 10. If they fix that they could get up in the 9 point range.

The Pita
I haven't had a pita as good as this in a while. The pita was soft and chewy but was not soggy. The only problem was that it was stuffed so big that the pita ripped, which was a real P.I.T.A when I was eating.
The Meat
The Sultan's meat is delicious. It is lightly seasoned and still retains its true beef taste.
The Veggies
The Sultan cuts his veggies differently than most places. The cucumbers were cut on an angle and fresh, the tomatoes were not soggy, and the lettuce was crisp but had some of that gross light yellow lettuce - Yuck!
The Sauces
Again, their sauces are typical, nothing special to say about them. Just like all the other donair places they cannot get their sauces evenly dispersed.
The Restaurant / Atmosphere
The restaurant is clean inside and has nice tiling. It has newer equipment and the staff is very friendly. They also have a big T.V. in there.

ReplyDeleteMan, this place is got the best donairs I have ever had...heck I haven't gone anywhere else since I heard about this place...I have been a donair fan for the past 10yrs...and Sultan's fan since last year...8/10 is not fare...Pita splitting is because of the amount of meat they put in there...which is awsome...and the pita itself splits without anyone being able to control it...I have the same issue with making sandwiches at home with Pitas...any case the one little yellow lettuce is nothing compared to how fresh all their stuff are and more importantly the portions and what I care most about which is how clean this place is! I would rate Sultan as 10/10.
ReplyDeleteThe Sultan's is one of the cleanest friendliest places I have been to. The staff uses gloves which is unlike most places I've been to and the pictures displaying the items that I hadn't tried is something I really enjoy. I tried things that I would have never tried otherwise. If you want to go to a restaurant that serves fast food, check out The Sultans in Coquitlam. I would give it a 10/10 for sure.
ReplyDeleteI actually live very close to Sultans Donair for about 4 years now and it has been nothing but dissapointments, first time i recieved a decent donair that was served without any napkins and the service was terrible, after a year i thought id try it again with 3 friends. We walked in about 8:45pm and ordered 4 donairs and were told we cannot eat in because they are closing in 15 minutes. So when we asked to eat in quickly we were practically told to just leave because they need to close soon. I ended up leaving my donair and i will NEVER EVER go back because there are plenty donair places around that would appreciate my business. anyway the donair has gotten worse i hear from others who tried it recently..........BAD SERVICE!!!!
ReplyDeletethis place is right by my house, this place has the worst service and their donairs are so small, they put way too much sauce,and always plateau donair, their donairs are by far the increasing their prices, Ive been going to a new place on westwood plateau on parkway, best, their sauces are to die for, and everything is fresh there and prices are very reasonable, and lots of meat in the donairs,iam addicted to this place its definetly worth driving up there,
ReplyDeleteThe sultan is the only donair shop I trust. The plateau guys I tried because they are right next to my complex despite the fact that I think the owners actually used to work at sultan way back and then decided to start their own a few blocks up, but regardless matter of convinience. However have been disappointed...high price, just not as clean and fresh, and low portions. Sultan remains by far my favorite!
